I'm using a Canon G10 on these walks. The SLR was just too heavy. Managing a dog or dogs, enjoying walking and taking pictures was just impossible with that heavy and awkward weight hanging on my neck. So the SLR will be relegated to more stationary shoots. The G10 offers little (or no) detail to be picked out of the dark areas of an image, but the images are good enough that walking me and the dog and picture taking at the same time is enjoyable.
